Ragnarok Online 2 Rogue PvE Guide by 7BlackRoses

This guide will focus manily on the game’s pve aspects as a rogue.
So you want to be a rogue?
Pros
Fastest base attack speed from all classes
Good survivability and soloing capabilities, with Gangster Paradise
Party DPS support, via Mark of Death
High critical rate, especially when Unstable Doping procs
Note: You can test their attack speed by using a single hit skill, and you’ll notice, most of the time, that 2 (3 if Poisoning Weapon procs) figures will be show up, one being the skill’s damage, the other one being the quick slash almost after the skill is used.

Ragnarok Online 2 Rogue In Depth Guide by Klyde

Hello everyone! I decided to make this guide in order to help those who may have questions about the Rogue class. This guide will mostly focus on PvE, but I will also cover some aspects of PvP that you may find useful. The best way to start is to go over the basics so let’s begin!
As a Rogue you only have two jobs:
1.) Maximize Attack : Pretty self-explanatory! Your job is to provide the maximum amount of offense.
2.) Survivability : This is the more difficult job. Rogues are frontline offense but lack natural defense and HP which in layman’s terms means that you’re going to get hurt… a lot. In a party, the priest’s main priority is the tank so you will have to fend for yourself. However, rogues benefit greatly from potions and you have several skills in your arsenal for survival making this class ideal for solo players.

Ragnarok Online 2 Rogue PvE PvP Tips by ShimHearts

Hello everyone, my IGN was Shine during the Beta testing, and I managed to hit the cap (35) using the rogue class.
Since the beta was mainly for people to cap I focused on structuring my build around PvE, but I am definitely a PvP enthusiast, so I will be going as in depth as possible in that area as well, but you have to remember that since I haven’t played SEA, I don’t know what the PvP systems are like, and all my ideals on it will be theorized. Feedback/Constructive criticism would be nice too
Well let’s get to it !
Oh and check out Klyde’s guide for rogue basics, stats, etc located here: Ragnarok Online 2 Rogue In Depth Guide
The link above is what I think to be the most safe, standard, party/solo, rogue PvE build there could be. The reason I say this is because the skill points are distributed so that all the essential skills that will maximize damage, survive, and group contribution are maxed, while all the other skills that can be used useful as well, are all left at 1 point.
The 40str/40agi/8vit I believe provides the most damage/crit/some durability, safely, in regards to PvE. It’s a very cookie cutter build honestly, and I think most can think it through and come up with at least this.
Through reading Klyde and Zael’s guides I found them both very insightful, and very very accurate, both obviously being more experienced than me I can not say that I would provide more knowledge on builds, gear, and the likes, but there were a few mechanic tricks I found to be useful, and somewhat fun to use while PvE
1. Hide > Dagger Throw > Dark Illusion : So both guides mentioned have covered the mechanic of Hide > Dagger throw as a good opener, and obviously as a lure. But when you’re not surrounded by aggro mobs, or if the mob is isolated, then a great way I found to get to the mob is to throw the dagger, and Dark Illusion immediately. How this works is: When you throw the dagger, you are not yet revealed in stealth until the dagger actually connects, and so you have about a 1-2 second gap of time that you can cast dark illusion, get the 4x Damage Proc, on top of the Dagger throw. This opener, I theorize, is probably extremely strong in PvP, but I’ll go into that later.
2. Weaving : I’m not sure if people have already picked up on this or not, but coming from AION, where weaving was the main source of DPS, I naturally tried it in the RO2 and found that it worked as well. People who are unfamiliar with weaving or do it but may not know that they are, it is basically throwing Normal Attacks in between skill combos. In Aion, you’d have to wait a little bit to catch the auto and cast the skill, but I found in RO2, that the animation for normal attacks can sometimes be completely skipped, but the damage will still register completely as well. I noticed when I first did it with deadly blow, I only did the deadly blow animation, but a normal attack hit registered as well, and since then I kept the normal attack button registered to one of my home skill buttons. Even if it may be just a little bit, it can never hurt to do just a little bit more deeps, right?
So apart from what Zael and Klyde have covered, I believe those are the only two things I can show to you guys PvE-wise. So definitely check out the other two guides, as they are much more insightful than mine is
So this is where I thought about, why I think Rogues are really the better option for PvP, and the main reason I think is because of the Combat restealth (Smoke Bomb).
Most games offer a combat restealth that will only last a certain amount of time, but in RO2 it gives pretty much the normal stealth (FOREVER) which I find OP.
So the build above is my theory of creating a Triple-Opener, which I think should result in a kill, but I wouldn’t know as I haven’t actually tried PvP yet.
The idea is to use this combo : Hide -> Dagger Throw -> Dark Illusion -> Mark of Death -> Smoke Bomb -> Dagger Throw (Wait if needed) -> Dark Illusion -> Dirty Plan -> 5 CP Skill of your Choice -> Smoke Bomb -> Dagger Throw -> Dark illusion
I don’t know how effective it would be, but I’d think that a triple opener added with a Moonlight or even deadly blow would be a guaranteed 1v1 kill. I can’t say much for anything else since not having dirty plan would be a hemmorhage to this build, but I think it would be effective.
REMEMBER: This part of the guide is theorized, and not tested.
Final Words:
So I hope to all see you in launch, and further guides in the future, sorry if this seemed sort of skinny, but I gave as much info as I could without being redundant. Maybe in the future with more experience I’ll be able to put further input and possibly create a new guide altogether, maybe not. Any feedback will be appreciated, and I hope to see all of you in Launch!
P.S. Once I cap and pimp my rogue out, my first alt in game will definitely be a sin, so in the future I hope to create a sin guide as well, but looking at the Sin’s kit, I can tell that it wont be nearly as enjoyable as rogues. But we’ll see eh?

Ragnarok Online 2 Which Pet Suitable for Assassin?

Dear Player,

Which type of Pets is suitable for Assassin?

And once you reach Level 50, you can start farming Demian DNA because it gives you crit buff. It's rare though, don't expect you farm in no time.

Im using Sohee for Poison DOT, Dessert Goblins for Crit buff, Skeleton for AGI buffs..

Ragnarok Online 2 The Reason Why Melee DPSs are HATED and not needed in GOOD/End Games Partie

Just want to share some thoughts about my experiences in group parties (Normal/RHM).
As you know, each class has a specific task in a party, and the DPS class rogue and assassin are these 2 Primary tasks:
1. Deal Damage QUICKLY -> Party Raid Quicker
2. Deal with MOBS -> Tank will take LESS damage -> Healer heal LESS
3. Take Care of Healer and Range -> Healer survive means Party Survive -> Range (Wiz/Sorc/Ranger) survives means more DPS and AOE

What most Melee DPSs don't understand are these:
4. DPSs are not TANKERS -> Please don't mass rush mobs and aggro boss when that is NOT YOUR JOB
5. DPS not TOP priority for Healer -> Healer take care of MAIN TANK first!

I played a monk and I have been in several parties where Dumb and Dumber/NOOB Rogue/Assassins keep hacking away at bosses even when he is spawning mobs and chasing the healer around getting hassled by them....

To add on to these points:
4. Rogue/Assassins are made of paper (LOW DEF and HP)...and they can be a burden to the party (Healer and Tank) when they are not doging fire and trying to be HERO.
5. Healer needs to Heal the TANK because party needs to stay alive...and TANK at front line tanking the BOSS is TOP Priority
6. Extra TIP: Use POTS to Heal yourself when Healer is BUSY....But DONOT OVERUSE pots as it ADDS AGGRO which might mean you get swarmed...
7. Please do not try to be RAMBO...let the tank take the lead...

Ragnarok Online 2 For real? Thief class that cant steal? No pick pocket skill of ANY sort.

How exactly are the thieves thieves if we don't steal?
In original RO we had steal. Further upgraded by the rogue/stalker class to GANK which procced from auto attacking.

Whats the deal? damage, sure great, whatever.
We can't rightly be called thieves if we don't steal!

-edit-

Let's try to be constructive here and think of skills that can be done away with in the original thief tree (or perhaps expanded trees) to make room for STEALING.
We're THIEVES for crying out loud.

Quote
Cross impact? Former Assassin Cross skill on basic thief tree? does less dmg than double slash, replace with steal? That way you *CAN* choose to ignore it if you want (most probably do already.) AND for those of us who would like to steal, we can do our 1-5 points in it. Rank 1 steal an item from the target, with a % of rare growing per rank, in pvp disarms players weapon, duration grows per rank. cool down ect ect? Ideas, people!

Ragnarok Online 2 End-game cards for assassin end game set cards

Hi, just want to ask you guys what would be the best cards for assassins during end game. manage to get 5 scratch thief cards normal+ and I'm wondering what would be the next set I need to equip.

Is it good that I equip 5 aromine normal+ cards or try to get the Aromine, keobi, etc, aromine of abyss card set? Sorry forgot the name of the card set but I believe it gives you Str, Agi and vit if you equip all the cards in the set.

Any thoughts?

Ragnarok Online 2 Rogues and Assassin's end game ? RHM? It is even possible

Well , hi , I am a level 50 full blue set rogue . My concern is that , for any new players out there that is going to play rogue/assassin , please think twice. During the RHM raid , i already have troubles finding a party. Now after maxing out my blue gears , I CANNOT find a party for arena/raids at all. People don't seem to want rogues and assassins in arena and baph raids because of their squishy hp. And i am wondering if there is any other players facing the same issue as i am, i have been trying to get into a raid for about 2 days , spamming at LFP , nothing. Everyone in my BL has their own "Fixed" raids already. And even so , Whats the end game like? will the level cap increase after OBT? or will we be stuck here trying to find a party forever? . Rogues and assassins discuss.

Ragnarok Online 2 Poisoning Weapon calculations

I'm planning my assassin build, and I see that everyone keeps the skill at level 1.

I'm currently unsure how the skill works exactly, but judging from numbers:

Level 1 - 10% damage every 2 seconds for 20 seconds = 100% damage over 20 seconds
Level 5 - 15% damage every 2 seconds for 20 seconds = 150% damage over 20 seconds

Isn't a 50% damage boost a big deal? Seeing how most offensive skills are around the 30% damage range.
Or how is that % actually calculated? Is it calculated differently?
Does the poisoning work on all monsters including bosses?

Maybe people are overlooking a very good skill.

Ragnarok Online 2 The real Rogue vs Assassin

First of All this is topic is only my opinion.
It seems that this game in favour with Assassins!

Survivability:
Assassin = Shadow Armor 50% Increase defense rate
Rogue = Gangster Paradise 12% HP recovery every 2 Seconds (Require Combo points)

Knockdown:
Assassin = Shadow Assault No need for combo points
Rogue = Crescent Moon Depending on your Combo points

Obtaining Combo :
Assassin = Shadow Strike 3 combo points (20secs cooldown)
Rogue = Duel Stab 2 cobo points (8secs Cooldown)

Ragnarok Online 2 BlackLotus' Rogue Guide and Discussion

Okay lets get straight to the point. If you are poor or not willing to spend, or those type of player that "count dead grass", dont bother playing Rogue and choose something else like Assassin / Ranger / Priest. The reason being Rogue is a pretty costly job to play. Well, your performance depends on your willingness to spend alot. (both game money and cash I must say)

Stat point :-

Str - Increase damage by 2 and parry by 2.
Agi - Increase hit rate, critical rate and dodge rate
Int - Useless, wont do anything to Thieves
Wis - Increase max SP by 6 and mana potion healing by 0.1% but useless too
Vit - Increase max HP by 6 and potion healing rate by 0.1%

My stat build is 50 str 28 agi. Reason being to maximise damage output. You can get your critical rate from Unstable Doping and when the crit buff procs your damage will be what you would like to see as a rogue :D Some people suggested Vit build since they give u better survivability ( as Rogue is super squishy) and also for the potion healing 0.1% per Vit, but they still die in dungeon anyway... So I was thinking, why bother? Just maximise your damage and do your job.

You can try 40 str 40 agi, or 35 str 30 agi 30 vit. Both are good builds. By putting more points in Agi and Vit it increases your survivability from the dodge rate and additional hp, but lowering your damage. Well for assassins, some people may argue that 50str and 40str 40agi build gives almost same damage output but you get additional dodge rate. If you think so, you may go for it. But for me I think max Str gives rogue a huge different, especially when you get the crit rate buff or increase damage based on your base damage buff from Unstable Doping. Poisoning weapon also based on your damage.
